Genting Hong Kong celebrates success of Singaporean top movie “Ah Boys to Men” with director Jack Neo, the cast, film crew and SuperStar Virgo passengers

Hong Kong / Singapore, 6 May, 2013 – Genting Hong Kong, a leading global leisure, entertainment and hospitality corporation, has brought director Jack Neo, the cast and crew of the highest-grossing Singaporean motion picture “Ah Boys to Men” onboard SuperStar Virgo to celebrate the overwhelming success of the movie with passengers from around the world. This cruise was part of Genting Hong Kong’s 20th anniversary celebration as well as Star Cruises’ first cruise out of Singapore on 23 December 1993.

On the 2-Night Redang cruise departed from Singapore on 3 May, more than 1,980 SuperStar Virgo passengers from Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, the U.S., and other countries enjoyed a number of “Ah Boys to Men”-themed events, including “In the Army” party at Galaxy of Stars learning the “Recruit Anthem” Dance Craze and also interactive games on Redang Island. To jack up the fun, the guests were also treated to two Jack Neo blockbusters, “Money No Enough” and “Just Follow Law”, at Lido Theatre onboard the ship.

Genting Hong Kong has also brought “Ah Boys to Men” to the Philippines for an exclusive premiere at Resorts World Manila and to Taiwan for a gala premiere early this month. On both occasions, Jack Neo and the cast of “Ah Boys to Men” wooed the audience and the local media with their humour and friendliness.

“I’m very grateful to Genting Hong Kong for the opportunity to bring my movies to Taiwan and the Philippines and getting such an enthusiastic response from the audiences there. We’re also delighted to be part of Genting Hong Kong’s 20th anniversary celebration,” said Jack Neo. “I would also like to thank Genting Hong Kong for arranging the cast, production crews and all those involved with ‘Ah Boys to Men’ to gather onboard SuperStar Virgo to celebrate the success of the movie with passengers from around the world. We would also like to attribute our success to the overwhelming support from our fans, without whom ‘Ah Boys to Men’ would not be the highest-grossing motion picture in Singapore.”

Produced and directed by Jack Neo, Singapore’s acclaimed movie and TV personality, “Ah Boys to Men” topped the box office in Singapore since debut. The combined box office of Ah Boys To Men 1 and 2 has grossed over S$14.2million domestically so far. Jack Neo is well known for his hilarious but soul-searching films such as “Money No Enough” and “I Not Stupid”.

Top Three of Everything Onboard Star Pisces by PhilStar.com

• April 7, 2013

MANILA, Philippines – If there is a cosmopolitan city outside the country that Filipino travelers know by heart, it is Hong Kong. We all know the drill: the city bus transfer or the airport express train from Chek Lap Kok Airport to destinations like Disneyland Resort, Central and Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui (for weekend shoppers), stopping only at the hotel to check in the luggage, which some have already mastered to a complete science, and on to the wonderful world of shopping, walking and a lot of pedestrian-, taxi- and double-decker-bus-dodging.

Of course, there are the usual side trips: Victoria Harbor, Avenue of the Stars, Pedder Street, Wan Chai, and even the largely out-of-the-way Victoria Peak making up the ultimate utopian checklist to complete an HK weekend—until your leg cramps get the best of you. So, you’ll probably soak like tea in the hotel bathtub for the remaining duration of your trip, rendered somehow incapacitated until your return flight.

But what if there is a totally different way to experience Hong Kong? Where the feet get rested for once, traded for good old sea legs? Where shopping and dining merge with the exciting ding-ding-ding of the slot machines? And where, just for a weekend, you can leave the stress, anticipation, and anxiety back on the docks, and get treated to a luxurious getaway on the open seas? This is certainly what Star Cruises had in mind when, in 1993, they developed the Star Pisces, and they haven’t dropped the anchor since.

Pioneering the cruising industry in the Asia and the Pacific, Star Pisces is the eldest in the cruise company’s six-ship fleet, after having gone multiple facelifts (with a recent one that started on Feb. 26 until March 22), we all know older is definitely wiser. The Star Pisces rounds up the dining, shopping, and gaming experiences one would usually find in their trips to Hong Kong and Macau, but makes it as simple as an elevator ride through all its 12-stories
