Hong Kong celebrity chef Kenny Chan teams up with SuperStar Virgo’s award-winning chef team to design more than 20 dishes for the ship’s Tuesday gala dinner and four restaurants—Noble House, Pavilion, Bella Vista and Mediterranean.
Chef Chan has tailored more than 20 dishes for the acclaimed restaurants on board. At premium restaurant Noble House, guests can try his award-winning masterpieces Stir-fried Prawn with Wild Mushroom (TVB “Apprentice Chef”: 1st Round Champion) and Wok-fried Crabmeat and Rock Lobster with Salted Egg Yolk on Rice Crackers (Hong Kong Tourism Board The Best of the Best Culinary Awards Stir Fried Category: Gold with Distinction Award). The master chef has also crafted items for the Tuesday gala dinner and the three inclusive restaurants on board—Pavilion, Bella Vista and Mediterranean. Guests will have an exclusive chance to taste all his signature dishes such as the original Barbecue Beef in Honey Sauce, Steamed Pork Balls with Crabmeat in Soup, and local favourite Fried Mantis Shrimp with Chilli & Spiced Salt in one go.

Few days after I’m back from Bangkok was my company trip on star cruise. Superstar Virgo this time round as the previous Star Gemini was a bit cock-up (just arrived from Sembawang shipyard) and they allowed us to board this cruise at a cheaper price. ($80 for sea port tax if I remember correctly). It’s a good price as Virgo is a bigger cruise and we will be stopping over at Redang. 3D2N this time round (the previous trip was just 1 night).
Boarded and went into our room to put our bags. I shared the room with my 2 other colleagues and as I’m the youngest among them and lightest, I took the upper deck bed which needs a “ladder” to climb up and down as shown.
The ladder was initially kept in the drawer and colleague from another room didn’t know about it. She told us she climbed up with the help of the side table. Haha!

Winners of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medallion Awards will receive RM5,000, RM2,000 and RM1,000 cash prizes, SuperStar Gemini cruises and certificates. This cooking competition is divided into two categories – professional and amateur. Skilled chefs, hospitality practitioners, apprentices, homemakers and anyone who loves to cook are welcomed to take the challenge to compete on curry fish head.
Judges include representatives from Chefs Association of Malaysia (Penang Chapter), members of the media and food bloggers. These judges with keen eyes for perfection and will take authenticity, technique, taste, presentation, safety and hygiene into consideration.
